NACE MR 0175 latest edition (2001) did explain the safe limit of various duplex stainless steel in cold annealed solution. For the normal duplex Stainless Steel 22Cr (UNS S31803) the safe limit of H2S partial pressure is limited up to 0.3 psia.

A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF CORROSION AND WEAR

In this study the corrosion, hardness and wear behavior of 316 stainless steel coated with Ni-20%Cr and Cr3C2-25%NiCr by detonation gun process were investigated. Two different thickness of coating is used for each type of coating. Different tests were conducted to access the behavior of the A comparative H2S corrosion study of 304L and 316L Accordingly, the corrosion rate of both alloys increases. Although the 316L alloy has a higher corrosion resistance compared with the 304L alloy, the difference reduces by increase in H 2S concentra-tion. This indicates that the inuence of H 2S is more profound on the 316L alloy. The inuence of H 2S on cathodic reactions including proton

Corrosion of Steel Alloys in CO2 Environments

Corrosion of Steel Alloys in CO2 Environments. This report describes an experimental program to evaluate corrosion of carbon steels in CO2 environment. Coupon exposure and electrochemical tests were conducted as a part of the program. The objective of the test program was to determine the corrosion rate of steel exposed to wet CO2 conditions. • AbstractIntroductionExperimentalResults and DiscussionConclusionsData AvailabilityConflicts of InterestThe relationship between the surface chemistry and the corrosion resistance of electrochemically nitrided AISI 304 stainless steel samples has been investigated. The nitriding treatment was carried out in HNO3 0.1M and HNO3 0.1M + KNO3 0.5M at room temperature. Samples were subjected to the nitriding procedure for 30 minutes under a cathodic potential of -0.7 VAg/AgCl. The chemical composition of the nitrided layers was assessed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Seawater leakage commonly leads to corrosion in the inner lining of submarine bimetallic pipes, with significant financial implications for the offshore oil and gas production industry. This study aims to improve understanding of the performance of bimetallic pipes by investigating the corrosion behaviors of mechanically bonded 316L stainless steel. Role of environmental variables on the stress corrosion Oct 01, 2004 · The stress corrosion cracking (SCC) behavior of sensitized AISI type 304 stainless steel (SS304) has been studied in dilute thiosulfate solutions as a function of thiosulfate concentrations and applied potentials. The susceptibility to SCC was observed to increase with thiosulfate concentrations and applied potentials.

    • AbstractIntroductionExperimental ProgramDiscussion and ResultsConclusionThe purpose of this paper is to study the effect of high nitrogen content on corrosion behavior of austenitic stainless steels in seawater under severe conditions such as tensile stresses and existence of sensitization in the structure. A constant tensile stress has been applied to sensitized specimens types 304, 316L, 304LN, 304NH, and 316NH stainless steels. Microstructure investigation revealed various degrees of stress corrosion cracking.
